Madonna is the richest recording artist in the world. Beating out big names like Paul McCartney and Dr. Dre, the "Material Girl" hitmaker comes out at No. 1 in a list released earlier this week by Wealth-X with a net worth of $800 million.

Madge has been one of the biggest recording artists in the past three decades. She has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and signed numerous lucrative deals. She also earned her income by venturing into other industries such as filmmaking, fashion and children's books.

McCartney is the second wealthiest recording artist in the planet. The British star is worth an estimated $660 million thanks to his solo career. That's way more than what he earned when he was still a part of The Beatles, said Wealth-X.

Dre, meanwhile, claims the third place on the list despite making billions from selling his Beats to Apple. The rapper is worth at $650 million. P. Diddy is another rap mogul on the list, sitting at No. 4 with $640 million. Closing out the top 5 is Celine Dion who's worth at $630 million.
