The network pulls the plug on the social experiment that was planned to last a whole year.

AceShowbiz - FOX's "Utopia (2014)" is over. The network has canceled its ambitious reality series after only two months. Announced as a social experiment, the show that put a group of strangers in an isolated camp and documented their activities 24/7 was supposed to last for 12 months.

The freshman series will be pulled from the Friday slot and replaced by encore episodes of "Masterchef Junior" starting this week. FOX will also pull the plug on live stream of the activities on the compound later on Sunday, November 2.

"Utopia", based on the hit Dutch format created by John de Mol, was never a rating hit since it debuted on September 7. The most recent episode, which would now be a series finale, tied a series low with a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 1.5 million viewers.

The reality series was originally scheduled to air twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, but the show was pulled from the Tuesday line-up in early October.
