MTV Orders 'Scream' TV Series

The small-screen reboot set in high school has been ordered for 10 episodes and will premiere in October 2015.

AceShowbiz - "Scream" TV series is on its way to scare MTV viewers. The network has picked up the small-screen reboot of the slasher film franchise to series, handing out 10-episode order for an October 2015 premiere.

Featuring a new cast, the series is set in high school and follows some students: shy popular girl Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), artsy loner Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), computer geek Noah (John Karna), all-American athlete Will (Connor Weil), ferocious socialite Brooke (Carlson Young), and mysterious new kid Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). Joel Gretsch also stars as Sheriff Clark Hudson (Kieran's father) and Tracy Middendorf plays Maggie.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein will executive produce the series along with Wes Craven, who directed all "Scream" movies, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad. Kevin Williamson, who wrote three of the four "Scream" films, is not involved in the TV project.

To announce the "Scream" TV series, MTV tweeted a phone number (310-461-4299). When the number is dialed, a creepy male voice inquires, "Do you like scary TV?" before announcing the show's arrival.

Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox were among the original cast of "Scream" movies. They reunited for the fourth installment, 2011's "Scream 4", which was released more than 10 years after the third movie.
