Lego Batman Gets His Own Movie

The 'Lego Batman' movie reportedly is in the works at Warner Bros. and it will be released in 2017.

AceShowbiz - "Lego Batman" is making its way to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Batman character in "The Lego Movie" is getting a spinoff and Warner Bros. is targeting a 2017 release. "Lego Movie" co-director Christopher Miller originally confirmed the news in a Twitter post, writing, "It's true. So excited," alongside hashtags "Darkness" and "No Parents."

Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on "Lego Movie" who is set to direct the sequel, will direct the "Lego Batman" movie first. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will produce while Seth Grahame-Smith will work on the script. The studio has not commented on the news.

"The Lego Movie" was released in the U.S. in February. Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman and Alison Brie are some stars who provided voices for the characters. Will Arnett, who voiced Batman, reportedly will reprise his role in "Lego Batman".

The Lego franchise is also working on "Ninjago". Lin, Lee, Miller and Lord serve as producers while Charlie Bean directs. It is set to hit U.S. theaters on September 23, 2016.
