AceShowbiz - Kerry Washington made appearance at the launch of "Scandal" clothing line which is a collaboration between the actress, the ABC popular series' costume designer Lyn Paolo and fashion retailer The Limited on Monday, September 22. As reported by The Associated Press, Washington spoke of the collection at the launch, saying that the professional-looking outfits are offered in more affordable price.

"There are women who can literally afford to dress like Olivia Pope, and I don't know how, because those clothes are very, very, very expensive," she said with a laugh. "There are other people who can't, and there is no reason why only the people who make a certain amount of money should have access to this feminine power in fashion, you know? This line is created so that everybody can find their own inner gladiator. That every woman can be powerful and sexy, brilliant and smart and gorgeous, fashion-forward. You know, it's just there's no limit to who you can be."

The collection, which comprises of 42 pieces, is available in The Limited stores and online starting from $49. "Narrowing [it] down to only 42 pieces for the initial collection was really hard because we just loved [everything] so much. But it was good to have to form the discipline to do that," Washington said, as quoted by Variety.

"We were literally in three different cities. I was in Los Angeles, [The Limited's Senior VP of Design Elliot Staples] was in New York and Lyn was in London. So this is a collaboration that could not have happened decades ago. We were literally FedExing buttons back and forth across the country. We were doing meetings on Skype. We were conference calling. We were really working as a team across the world. It was really fun," the 37-year-old star shared.

Paolo additionally revealed that so far three looks from the collection would be featured in the fourth season of "Scandal" which premieres on Thursday, September 24. "We have featured three pieces already and there will be more coming down the pipe," Paolo said.
