The 'Cabaret' actress who is recovering following a back surgery earlier this week has released a statement, saying that she's 'overwhelmed' by her fans' outpouring support.

Liza Minnelli is sending some love to her fans as she recovers from a back surgery. The actress/singer reportedly underwent the surgery last week and she is currently resting at a California hospital. In a statement to The Associated Press on Wednesday, September 17, the "Cabaret" star said, "I am overwhelmed with the amount of love and caring that has been sent my way from all over the world."
Earlier this month, Minnelli told Page Six's Cindy Adams that she could not make it to Joan Rivers' funeral because of her back injury. "I couldn't go to Joan Rivers' funeral, which I desperately wanted to because I loved her - but I couldn't go because I can't walk. I'm in bed. Going in for surgery," she was quoted as saying.
"I broke my lower back. Remember a few years ago I was in a wheelchair because I had trouble with my spine? They operated on it then. Well, now, again. They'll have to fuse it," she explained. "I was picking up my dogs - and they jumped. And I got twisted and fell. I thought it's nothing. But it wasn't nothing. It became something. After an X-ray, seems I busted it and have to have it fused. The operation's next week."
On Sunday, September 10, Minnelli was seen arriving at LAX in a wheelchair. The star, who seemed to be in a good mood, was all smiles while going through the terminal. Wearing a chic all-black outfit and sunglasses, Minnelli also had a cane to help her walk.
