Brian Van Holt will bid farewell to "Cougar Town" early before the show wraps up for good. TVLine learns from a source that the actor will quit the show in the season 6 premiere, which is slated to air in early 2015.
According to the insider, the 45-year-old who plays Bobby Cobb, the ex-husband of Courteney Cox's Jules Cobb, leaves the sitcom early to pursue other opportunities. He has been on the show since its launch in 2009.
TBS renewed "Cougar Town" for a sixth and final season in May, after purchasing the rights to the series in 2012. The sitcom originally aired on ABC in its first three seasons.
In addition to being a part of the main cast on "Cougar Town", Van Holt has appeared in 10 episodes of "The Bridge". He also has a lead role on upcoming Canadian/American miniseries "Ascension", which recently wrapped up production and will debut November 24 on Syfy.
