Actor J.J. Murphy passed away on Friday, August 8 at the age of 86. According to The Belfast Telegraph, Murphy collapsed and died just four days after filming his first scenes on HBO's series "Game of Thrones".

Murphy's agent said in a statement, "I am heartbroken to pass on the news that the wonderful J.J. Murphy passed away this morning 8th August 2014. I had the pleasure and honour to be his Agent for the last 18 months and have never encountered a man with more spirit, passion and love for his craft. At this time our thoughts are with his family."

Murphy was cast as Ser Denys Mallister, the oldest member of the Night's Watch military order, in the fifth season of "Game of Thrones" last month. He began filming his part last week. According to Murphy's agent, the Northern Irish actor was "absolutely delighted" to be cast "in one of the biggest productions in the world at this stage in his career."

Murphy had part in upcoming movie "Dracula Untold", in which he played a village elder. His other film credits include 1984's "Cal", 1999's "Angela's Ashes" and 2004's "Mickybo and Me".

Murphy was a long standing member of Equity, the British actor's union. He had worked for many years at Belfast's Lyric Theatre as a mentor who taught some renowned actors like Liam Neeson and Ciaran Hinds.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, and three children.
