Roberto Orci Says He Is Not Involved in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3'
Movie

The screenwriter who is tapped to tackle 'Star Trek 3' confirms that he is 'not officially involved' in the third film.

AceShowbiz - It seems that Roberto Orci is no longer involved in "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise. In a new interview with IGN, he hints that Sony has no concrete plans for future films despite the fact that "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" already locked June 10, 2016 as release date and a fourth one was set for May 4, 2018.

Orci penned the first two movies with his writing partner Alex Kurtzman. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" arrived May 2 this year in the U.S. and went on to rank the lowest box office in the franchise including Sam Raimi's trilogy. The scribe was initially expected to reprise his role in the third film, but he now says he is "not officially involved in it."

Orci and Kurtzman have parted ways as a writing duo in order to pursue their individual interests. Kurtzman is currently attached to direct and write Spidey spin-off "Venom (2017)", while Orci is occupied with his writing and directing duties for "Star Trek 3".

"I don't know what their plans are for that franchise," Orci said of Spidey franchise. "I don't ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I've read probably as much as anyone else. There's a love for the Sinister Six, the idea of Venom -- there's an idea of Spider-Man's going to be one of these characters that's part of our business. He's such a popular character. Spider-Man's not going to go away any time soon."

"When it all happens and how and all that has yet to be determined," the writer continued, before adding, "I don't want to say anything about what they should do. I don't want them to think I'm spilling the beans about something."
