The report that Tom Cruise is dating fellow Scientologist and actress Laura Prepon has been denied. A representative of the actor said the claim was "false".

The rumor originated from Grazia magazine that reported Cruise and Prepon's fancy dinner at The Renaissance restaurant inside Manor Hotel in Los Angeles. They reportedly dined only the two of them and he requested a rare 1979 bottle of Merlot for them to share.

"He had her picked up in a vintage car, knowing it was one of her favorite, and had pre-ordered a vintage bottle of 1979 Merlot, which was on the table when she arrived," the magazine reported. "They spent three hours laughing and joking." Cruise reportedly was "smitten" and "on cloud nine".

Grazia also reported that the alleged couple met again at the same place for brunch and a few days later to a dinner party at John Travolta's house. The 55-year-old actor bonded with 33-year-old Prepon over Scientology.

"They see each other at some functions, but they are not dating," an insider told UsWeekly. The source said that although he denied going out with the "Orange Is the New Black" actress, he is not shunning romance. "He will date again and has been talking with women," the Us source claimed. "He's actually a lot more relaxed and more extroverted."

Cruise has not publicly dated anyone since his split from wife Katie Holmes in 2012.
