The Rolling Stones is coming to Australia for a string of tour dates next year. The first confirmed show will take place at the revamped Adelaide Oval on Saturday, March 22. Former band member Mick Taylor has been announced as a "special guest" for the big concert.

"It's great to be invited to Adelaide to open the historic Oval... we're really looking forward to doing this gig," frontman Mick Jagger said in a video message released on Tuesday, November 19. "It will be the first time we've been to Adelaide in nearly 20 years, so see you there!"

Guitarist Keith Richards promised to make the show unforgettable, adding, "Hi everyone down in Adelaide. It's been a while since we were in your back yard ... see you on March 22 when we'll take over your new stadium and make it our own, look forward to it."

Tickets for the show goes on sale next Monday, November 25 while pre-sales begins from Thursday, November 22.

Promoter Frontier Touring said that the upcoming event would be "one of the biggest, if not the biggest, production Adelaide has ever seen." Nearly 60 trucks will be required to carry all the staging and production for the concert. Premier of South Australia Jay Weatherill confirmed taxpayers had spent $423,000 to lure Jagger and his bandmates to the town.

The band is expected to announce more Australian and New Zealand dates in the near future.
