Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell turned their near death experience into a joke. The "House of Lies" stars were caught in the middle of a gang shooting while filming scenes for the Showtime series in South Central Los Angeles on Friday, November 15.

TMZ was the first to report that a dispute erupted among onlookers who are believed from two feuding gangs. Gun shots were fired among the crowd gathering at Nickerson Gardens housing projects where the cast and crew were filming. Cheadle and Bell reportedly had just finished filming a scene alongside guest star T.I. when the shooting happened.

Bodyguards tried to control the situation and police were called. However, the crowd had already dispersed when the police arrived on the scene. No one was reported injured. The Los Angeles Police Department later denied some of the story, telling E! Online, "Officers responded to a call about a shooting in the area, but upon arrival could not find evidence that a crime had been committed."

Meanwhile, the two lead stars also made a comment on the incident. Cheadle joked on the report by TMZ, tweeting "Holy s***, I'm dead (TMZ)." Bell chimed in, "I'm sitting right next to him, he's definitely not dead." He replied, "@IMKristenBell Uh, I'll be the judge of that, kitty."

A Twitter user then jokingly suggested that they could be looking at each other's zombies. In response, Bell posted a photo of them together where she bit her finger and he gave a zombie stare. "I am like 99|percent| sure he's not dead...wait a min...#zombiedon," Bell wrote.
