Salerno says that he receives many texts asking if he was okay after his name was mistakenly mentioned as one of people who were affected by a plane crash at Telluride airport.

"Salinger" director Shane Salerno was not among the documentary crew members who boarded a plane which crash-landed at the Telluride Regional Airport last week, but he received many text messages and e-mails because his name was mistakenly mentioned. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at "Salinger" premiere on Monday night, September 2, he said the experience was "terrifying."
"I was actually reported as being on the plane, so I got all of these e-mails and texts asking if I was OK. It was very terrifying," he said. According to the director, the plane crashed after a propeller blew off the plane.
A plane which carried several passengers associated with documentary "Salinger" crash-landed on Runway 27 at about 1:09 P.M. on Sunday, September 1. According to San Miguel County Sheriff's Office, the pilot reported that "a warning light indicated a landing gear was not locked down" and later the left gear collapsed. There were no smoke or fire after the plane "skidded to a halt."
All passengers, including the Weinstein Co.'s publicity executive Emmy Chang and co-author of "Salinger" David Shields, and flight crew sustained no injury. The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
