Demi Lovato is going to lend her star power to "Glee". The former Disney starlet is reportedly nearing a deal to guest star in the upcoming fifth season of the musical dramedy series.

According to TVLine which first reported the news before The Hollywood Reporter confirms it, the "Made in the USA" songstress will play Dani, a NYC-based struggling artist friend of Rachel and Santana's. She will interact with Adam Lambert's character, which is still kept secret, and the two will appear in several musical numbers together.

Naya Rivera, who plays Santana, seemingly confirms the news as tweeting, "So excited for @ddlovato to join our cast! Wonder what we'll get up to in NYC!" Lambert also couldn't hide his excitement to work alongside Lovato, writing on his own Twitter account, "I just heard the news! Excited to sing w you girl!"

The 20-year-old singer/actress is slated to appear in at least six episodes, beginning with the second episode of The Beatles tribute episode set to air on October 3. The gig will mark Lovato's first major acting role since her Disney Channel series "Sonny With a Chance" ended its run in January 2011.

She released her fourth studio album "Demi" in May this year and will return as a judge in the third season of "The X Factor (US)".

"Glee" will return with its fifth season September 26 on FOX. The show will dedicate the third episode of the season to the late Cory Monteith and later take a hiatus.
