Jay-Z is reportedly planning on doing a surprise concert atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater, where the "Late Show With David Letterman" is taped. New York Times, which broke the news, said that the concert was scheduled for June 8 and Jay-Z would turn rush-hour Times Square into a gigantic street party.

Jay-Z is reportedly seeking approval from Mayor Bloomberg's office. "If he gets permission from the mayor's office, it's going to be off the hook," a law-enforcement agent told the site. "They'll have to shut down Broadway around the Letterman building. They'll have to have a strong police presence. It's going to be chaos with so many fans."

Jay-Z had a similar idea for a show with Eminem a few years ago, but the city didn't allow it due to safety concerns. However, another source was sure that the concert would happen as the source said, "It is close. There are a lot of logistical concerns." The source added, "This would be a great event for New York City."

In addition to trying to get approval for his New York concert, Jay-Z is promoting his highly-anticipated new album that comes out early next month, "Magna Carta... Holy Grail". He recently treated fans with steady release of song lyrics via "Magna Carta" app, a customized app from which fans with Samsung Galaxy phones can download the album for free on July 4.

The latest song whose lyrics are shared is "Oceans", a collaboration with Frank Ocean. The lyrics come along with a short video that sees the rapper explaining the meaning of the song to Rick Rubin, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and Pharrell Williams while a little part of the song is played in the background.
