Catherine Zeta-Jones is taking some time off to deal with her mental health struggle. The 43-year-old actress is back in treatment for bipolar disorder. She first revealed her condition in 2011, during which she also sought help for it.
"Catherine has proactively checked into a health care facility," a representative for the mother of two said in a statement. "Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner."
Zeta-Jones first spoke out publicly about her bipolar disorder two years ago as saying, "There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help. This is a disorder that affects millions of people, and I am one of them."
She was seen attending the Film Society of Lincoln Center's 40th Chaplin Award Gala in New York City with her actor husband Michael Douglas on April 22. He went solo when coming to the 2013 White House Correspondents Dinner over the weekend.
Douglas himself is battling Stage IV throat cancer. He first revealed his illness in 2010. The couple has since battled to quit smoking as he's undergoing treatment to defeat the cancer.
