Beyonce and Jay-Z Fail to Trademark 'Blue Ivy'

The couple reportedly wanted to trademark the name of their daughter because she has a plan to develop a clothing line under the moniker.

Beyonce Knowles and rapper husband Jay-Z failed to trademark their baby daughter Blue Ivy's name. Beyonce wants to start a clothing line for children under the moniker but Blue Ivy has been taken as an event planner company name since 2009.

Beyonce and Jay-Z filed a trademark application not long after Blue Ivy's birth in January this year. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office could not approve their application because a Boston-based event planning film has gone with Blue Ivy Events earlier than them. The Office sent the couple a rejection letter that stated Blue Ivy Events' owner Veronica Alexandra has defended her company's good name and will retain the name for their business.

Nevertheless, there is no beef between Beyonce and Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Events. The event planner's site has a photo of the couple with the caption "Congrats to our SOUL MATE Couple with Baby Blue Ivy!!!" Alexandra also said that she "highly respects" Beyonce.

"I can't be frustrated with something I think is going to bring me to produce and define my brand even more, which is financially exciting in itself and intellectually exciting as well," Alexandra told the Boston Herald. "It's like they caused me to create more opportunity for myself."
