After three multi-platinum albums, Matchbox 20 are back with their fourth studio installment "North" which is due September 4 Stateside. Marking their first record with all-new material since 2002's "More Than You Think You Are", it has been teased with the release of the first single "She's So Mean".

Dropped in June, the Rob Thomas-written track has peaked at No. 49 on Billboard Hot 100 and No. 8 at Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart. In Australia where the album has been released since August 28, "She's So Mean" even has already got a gold certification for selling 35,000 units.

Though "North" is their first studio album in a decade, Matchbox 20 actually recorded six new songs for their 2007 compilation album "Exile on Mainstream". Among those then-fresh tracks, it's "How Far We've Come" which charted high, getting a platinum certification in the United States.

To promote the upcoming album, the alternative rock band are scheduled to make a slew of TV appearances. Days leading to the release, they will headline "Toyota Concert Series" on NBC's "Today" and stop by CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman", while their frontman Thomas will have a sitdown with Piers Morgan on his CNN talk show.
