The actress who is in the middle of affair scandal has reportedly nabbed the lead role of an indie movie about a dysfunctional family.

First good news for Kristen Stewart since her affair with director Rupert Sanders got out. The actress has reportedly landed a lead role in "Lie Down in Darkness", an indie adaptation of William Styron's 1951 novel about a dysfunctional Virginian Loftis family.

According to Vulture, Stewart is set to play Peyton Loftis, a character who is constantly compared to her crippled sister, Maudie, and whose intense physical beauty makes her the object of her frigid mother's jealous hatred and the target of her father's incestuous, alcoholic lust.

The role was previously attached to Jennifer Lawrence but her commitments to the "The Hunger Games" and "X-Men" series have prevented her from having a free schedule next year. It is yet unclear when "Lie Down in Darkness" will shoot but producer Jeff Sharp who has been mulling the project for years is eager to set the cast in stone.

Stewart is unlikely to reprise her role in the planned sequel of "Snow White and the Huntsman" following her fling with the married director. Sanders' wife Liberty Ross reportedly has prevented him from directing the sequel. "Liberty let it be known in no uncertain terms that Rupert can't direct the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman," a source told Radar Online. "They are trying to work things out after he was caught having an affair, and that is one of the sticking points. She just doesn't want him to ever work with Kristen again."
