Alex Trebek is recuperating from a "mild heart attack" after admitted to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Saturday, June 23. The "Jeopardy!" host is expected to fully recover and resume production of the game show in July for its upcoming new season.

"Trebek is in good spirits and is currently under observation and undergoing further testing," Sony Pictures Television issued a statement. "He is expected to fully recover and be back at 'Jeopardy!' when production begins taping in July for the new season, the show's 29th."

While Trebek was in hospital, "Jeopardy!" won Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Show at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards over the weekend. It beat "BrainSurge", "Cash Cab", "Let's Make a Deal", "Wheel of Fortune" and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire".

Trebek has hosted "Jeopardy!", which was previously presented by Art Fleming, since 1984 and renewed his contract to stay on the show until 2014. Back in December 2007, the 71-year-old host also suffered a heart attack but was able to return to his hosting gig on the show just weeks after the health scare.
