The CW has found the title character depicter for its "Green Arrow" project. Stephen Amell, who played werewolf Brady in season 2 of "The Vampire Diaries", has been cast to play the superhero in the new drama pilot.

Dubbed a modern retelling of the story of DC Comics' character, the upcoming Green Arrow pilot will be directed by David Nutter with Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg writing as well as executive producing it. The archer, who lives as a billionaire named Oliver Queen by day, was previously played by Justin Hartley on "Smallville".

30-year-old Amell recently guest starred on FOX's high-rated comedy "New Girl". He has also landed roles on HBO's "Hung" and The CW's "90210".

While moving forward with the "Green Arrow" pilot, The CW has also picked up three more drama pilots. One is titled "Shelter" which comes from J.J. Abrams and Mark Schwahn. The other newly greenlit projects are Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain's "The Selection" and Bert Royal's "Joey Dakota".
