The 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' star admits that he didn't right away jump at the chance to mimic his iconic character for Honda's Super Bowl ad, which has now become an Internet sensation.

Matthew Broderick might not be sold on the idea of spoofing his iconic 80s film, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", for Honda's Super Bowl ad at first, but he ended up starring in it. After the commercial became an Internet sensation, the 49-year-old actor opened up why he finally decided to do it.
When met at the Dewars-sponsored opening gala for the Signature Theater Company, the husband of Sarah Jessica Parker confessed to New York magazine's Vulture column, "It took a little, uh, thinking about it, it took a little time." He added, "But I ended up thinking it might be amusing."
Broderick further revealed that the thought of working with "The Hangover" director Todd Phillips was also an alluring factor. "Todd Phillips was directing it, who's a good director, and I thought it would be fun to send up Ferris Bueller a little bit," the Mr. Fitzhugh of "Tower Heist" explained.
The filming of the commercial itself was done in four days in Los Angeles, and the two-time Tony Award winner claimed he couldn't help thinking, "I hope this is a good idea," while "running around L.A." shooting the ad. Now that the extended version of the spot has topped the 4 million mark on Honda's YouTube channel, he said, "I guess I'm part of a virus."
