Contrary to swirling rumors, Bono is in good health. While confirming that the lead singer of U2 did go to Princess Grace Memorial Hospital while vacationing in Monaco recently, a spokeswoman shot down reports that the rocker has been rushed to the hospital after complaining of chest pains.
Accordingly, 51-year-old Bono made the trip for a routine check-up. In a statement released via Reuters, his representative stressed, "Despite press stories to the contrary Bono has not suffered a recent health scare. Reports of his being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment are untrue. Bono is in good health and enjoying a family holiday in the south of France."
News of Bono's health scare was first reported by the Irish Independent newspaper. The publication claimed that the rocker was taken to hospital by wife Ali Hewson after experiencing heart palpitations while on holiday in the south of France. He allegedly spent 48 hours of medical tests on Wednesday (August 17) and Thursday (August 18), but wasn't kept overnight.
Bono's false heart scare rumor came in months after U2 were forced to delay the North American leg of their 360 Tour because of his back injury that required him to undergo emergency surgery. The rocker and his Irish rock band have completed their record-breaking world tour several weeks before the Monaco trip.
