The final installment of the 'Harry Potter' film series is named the highest grossing film in all categories this year and slated as the third biggest movie of all times after 'Avatar' and 'Titanic'.

AceShowbiz - "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" is slated as the biggest movie in 2011. Warner Bros. Pictures announced on Tuesday, August 9 that the final installment of the wizard boy film franchise has earned the highest grossing movie of 2011 in all categories, including domestic box office, international box office and worldwide box office in less than a month of release.

As of August 8, "Deathly Hallows: Part II" has earned $344.8 million in domestic box office, beating "Transformers: Dark of the Moon". The movie has also totaled $801.5 million in international box office, surpassing "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". Meanwhile, for the worldwide box office, the film has grossed $1.146 billion, trailing behind James Cameron's "Avatar" and "Titanic" on the all-time charts.

"This is another incredible milestone for the last chapter of this historic film series, and for the Harry Potter franchise as a whole. In a crowded and very competitive summer, it is a tribute to both the film and the people behind it that moviegoers are still turning out to enjoy it - whether for the first time or for a repeat viewing," Dan Fellman, WB's president of domestic distribution, shared in a written statement.

"Deathly Hallows: Part II" has been opened in U.S. theaters since July 15. The film is directed by David Yates, with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson reprising their roles as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger respectively.
