Ryan Gosling is likely to make his directorial debut soon. The "Blue Valentine" star will allegedly helm a remake of 1980's musical drama movie, "The Idolmaker". Deadline reports that the 30-year-old actor will also take a role in the forthcoming project.
While it is the first time for Gosling to sit in the director's chair, he is no stranger to the music scene. He has formed an indie rock band called Dead Man's Bones with his friend Zach Shields in 2008. Their first album was released on October 6, 2009.
Gosling's acting career began when he was a cast member on "The Mickey Mouse Club", along with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. He shot to fame after he starred in 2001's controversial film "The Believer". Gosling is currently at Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of his film "Drive", which will have a limited release in U.S. theaters on September 16.
"The Idolmaker" tells a story about the life of rock promoter/producer Bob Marcucci, who discovered Frankie Avalon and Fabian. The original film served as Taylor Hackford's directorial debut, and starred Ray Sharkey, Peter Gallagher, and Joe Pantoliano.
