"X-Men: First Class" is close to get other cast members. After picking James McAvoy as Professor X, 20th Century Fox is reported by Showbiz411 to have tapped Benjamin Walker to play Beast, the large intellectually gifted blue mutant played by Kelsey Grammer in "X-Men: The Last Stand".
Moreover, Michael Fassbender who was previously said to be wanted to play Magneto in the upcoming film is a step closer to take the role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he has now entered early negotiations with the studio to portray one of the major characters beside Xavier.
Walker is dubbed "the hottest newcomer in New York theater this season." He is currently playing in Public Theater's "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson". As for Fassbender, the 33-year-old actor has a villainous role in "Jonah Hex", which has just been premiered in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 17 and opens wide in U.S. theaters the day after.
"X-Men: First Class" will chart the epic beginning of the "X-Men" saga and follow Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr when they were still close friends who worked together with other Mutants to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. Matthew Vaughn is on board to helm it, while Fox eyes June 3, 2011 release for the sci-fi.
