Husband Insists Brittany Murphy Isn't Drug Addict
Celebrity

Simon Monjack brands speculation that Murphy died of drug overdose as "rubbish" and "sick".

British screenwriter Simon Monjack is quick to launch another attack on mounting claims that his late wife Brittany Murphy might die because of drug overdose, insisting she isn't a drug addict. "There's no question that's rubbish," he tells New York Daily News. "I'm confident it wasn't an overdose...She was not a drug addict."

"My wife did not take anything on the morning of her death that would have caused her to be sick or ill, let alone die," Monjack claims. "It's beyond even the sickest speculation." Besides, Murphy wasn't anorexic, he adds, calling eating disorder claim "heartless."

"The attacks on me, the attacks on my wife and suggestions that she was anorexic and drug addicted, it's like, look at the photographs," Monjack argues. "Look at that smile. That's not the smile of an anorexic or drug addict or someone in a bad marriage. That's someone who was content with her life."

Brittany Murphy passed away on Sunday, December 20 after suffering cardiac arrest. The cause of her sudden death will not be determined until pending toxicology, histiological and neurological tests are completed in the next four to six weeks. Her funeral is planned for December 24 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.
