Uma Thurman is back on the single saddle again as it has been reported that she has called off her engagement to financier fiance Arpad Busson. Official confirmation is yet to be made by either parties, but the story of their split has been running wild all over the news media.
An unnamed source tells weekly magazine People Uma and Arpad ended their engagement "awhile back - almost two months ago." The source adds that though the pair is no longer together they still "remain friends."
Uma Thurman began dating Arpad Busson, who is a wealthy self-made Swiss/French financier, in 2007. In late June the following year, her representative confirmed that the pair already got engaged. He reportedly presented her with an 8-plus carat center stone surrounded by 20 smaller stones. Since then, they were often hit with false marriage reports. Back in September this year, Uma was forced to deflate report of her and Arpad planning to tie the knot in June 2010 at the Kensington Palace, the former house of the late Princess Diana.
And due to their separation, Uma reportedly will give the engagement ring back to Arpad. "She wants to return everything that is his," the same source claims. A representative for Uma has no comment on the issue, leaving question on the reason that prompts the pair's split unanswered.
Uma was previously married to actor Ethan Hawke, who fathers her two children; daughter Maya Ray and son Levon Roan. As for Arpad, he has two sons; Arpad Flynn Busson and Aurelius Cy Andre Busson, with former girlfriend, supermodel Elle MacPherson.
