A music video supporting Green Day's latest single "21st Century Breakdown" has hit the web. It features black-and-white scenes of the band's live performance as well as current social and political phenomena.

"21st Century Breakdown" comes from "Heroes and Cons", the first act of Green Day's eighth studio album "21st Century Breakdown". The rock song is aimed to follow up the album's third single "East Jesus Nowhere" which has been in digital retails since October 19.

Several new songs from the album will be featured in Michael Mayer-directed "American Idiot" musical project. Commenting on the play, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told MTV, "Michael Mayer is great; the cast is great. They're really passionate as artists. They put everything they possibly can into it. They're not trying to make it big and Hollywood. They're artists, and that's the most inspiring thing."

A stage adaptation of the band's 2004 studio album "American Idiot", the play was debuted in September at the Berkeley Repertory Theater in California as the first production of the theater's 2009-10 season. It will run through November 1 and is hoped to be brought to Broadway after that.
