The planned burial for Michael Jackson has been postponed, his father Joe Jackson tells TMZ exclusively. Initially scheduled to take place Saturday, August 29, the ceremony is now set for Monday, August 31.
Explaining the reason that prompts the delay, the older Jackson is quoted by TMZ as saying, "there are things the family needs to get in order before Michael is laid to rest." No other detail is shared with the press though.
Earlier this week, Joe Jackson told reporters that Michael Jackson, who passed away on June 25 after suffering from cardiac arrest, would be laid to rest on August 29, on what would have been the King of Pop's 51st birthday. The burial was confirmed to be kicked off at 10 A.M. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Soon thereafter, a representative for Michael's family reaffirmed Joe's statement, confirming Michael would be buried at Holly Terrace in the Grand Mausoleum at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The affair, added the representative, would be limited to family and close friends only.
