Big screen beauty Zooey Deschanel uses the chance of gracing SELF Magazine's August cover to share some of her favorite summertime activities. Baking vegan chocolate and running around in the sprinklers are some of the things she finds it fun to do during the warmest time of year. "You can't force fun, but you can set up situations where fun will happen to you," she tells the magazine.

Asked to give suggestions on the things people can do during the season, Zooey says, "Sprawl in the grass for a little bit. My suggestion is to put on an all-green outfit and roll down a hill." She then adds, "Read a mystery novel in a hammock. I really wish I had a hammock - I am on a five-year hammock plan, so hopefully as I enter my 30s I can finally achieve that goal."

"Encourage the men around you to wear a boater hat. Not everybody's a hat person, but it can't hurt to try," she continues, before adding that people can also watch some live performances. "I love Brian Wilson, so seeing him last summer at the Hollywood Bowl, which is such a classic venue, is a great memory," she tells SELF Magazine.

Zooey Deschanel rose to stardom after starring as Anita Miller in 2000 movie "Almost Famous". She has since starred in a number of films and can next be seen acting in comedy-romance "500 Days of Summer", which will be hitting theaters in U.S. this coming Friday, July 17.
