'Bruno' Allegedly Gets Reshoot to Appease Gay Community
Movie

Universal Pictures reportedly have reshot some parts of 'Bruno' because writer/director Mike White finds 'the Bruno character to be a depiction of fetishism rather than a comedic stereotype.'

Universal Pictures and Sacha Baron Cohen, according to The Wrap, have reshot some parts of movie "Bruno" because of pressure coming from prominent gay community in Hollywood. Additionally, the media reports that the studio and the actor plan to add an "ending shot this spring with the participation of Elton John, Coldplay's Chris Martin and other music celebrities, who seem to promote gay marriage in a spoof charity video."

Writer/director Mike White, who is gay and part of Hollywood's comedic power circle, says he "found the Bruno character to be a depiction of fetishism rather than a comedic stereotype." Refusing to give further comments on the matter, he only states, "People are going to have a range of reactions to the film. I'm excited for people to see the movie, because it's going to generate a lot of interesting discussions."

"Bruno" is a follow up from the 2006 hit "Borat". The story centers on Sacha Baron Cohen's gay Austrian supermodel Bruno who comes to the big screen with similar hijinks and celebrity interviews as seen on "Da Ali G Show." It is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on July 10.
