Katherine Heigl Re-Enters Name for Emmy Consideration
TV

The star of 'Grey's Anatomy' has a second thought about excluding her name as one of the contenders of Primetime Emmy Awards.

Katherine Heigl is no longer secluding herself from the Primetime Emmy Awards. The "Grey's Anatomy" star, as reported by EW, has re-entered her name to be considered as a contender for the annual event that honors works in television.

In June last year, Heigl retracted from being considered although she won the Best Actress award in 2007. She blamed the writers of "Grey's Anatomy" for not bringing her character into an award-worthy performance. "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention," she explained. "In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."

Heigl is now apparently changing her decision because "Grey's" creator Shonda Rhymes allegedly was angry upon Heigl's decision back then not to submit her name to the jury panel.

The nomination for the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced live from Leonard H. Goldenson Theater on July 16 at 5.35 A.M. The ceremony itself will be held on Sunday, September 20 at L.A.'s Nokia Theater and aired live on CBS.

The fifth season of "Grey's Anatomy" ended on May 14 with a cliffhanger where Izzie collapsed in Alex's arm and was seen later in the prom dress that she wore when Denny died. She was in the elevator with George inside.
