Jennifer Hudson is confirmed to have lip-synced "Star-Spangled Banner" during her performance at Super Bowl XLIII pre-game party on February 1. Breaking the news is the show's producer Ricky Minor, who tells The Associated Press that she sang to the pre-recorded track at his request.

"That's the right way to do it," Minor explains concerning Jennifer's live appearance. "There's too many variables to go live. I would never recommend any artist go live, because the slightest glitch would devastate the performance."

"This was such an important performance, because it's the first time everyone has seen Jennifer," he furthermore states. "She's in such a great place, with such great spirits, and time can heal her wounds. She's on fire right now and totally grounded."

Claiming that Jennifer was very well prepared, Minor says she made her performance personal. "She's from the church. So we wanted to give it a gospel feel, use a little organ, rhythm and really give it a feel that matched Jennifer. We wanted her to emote the lyrics and connect with the song," so he notes.

Regardless her lip-syncing, Jennifer received support from fellow celebrities. Her two cell phones lit up "like slot machines" just after she performed. One of the texts she received came from Jamie Foxx, her co-star in "Dreamgirls", saying, "Amazing. It brought tears to my eyes."
