Welcoming the arrival of their second daughter last Tuesday, January 6, it wasn't until Tuesday, January 13 that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck revealed the name of their newborn baby. The couple had his spokesman, Shawn Sachs, confirming that the celebrity parents named their baby girl Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck.

No explanation was offered for the name, where it is derived from or what it means. It was also not mentioned on why the pair decided to pick the name.

Meanwhile, US Weekly quoted Baby Name Bible author Pamela Redmond Satran, as explaining "Seraphina is an elaborately feminine kind of name that's really come into style over the past few years, like [Affleck's friend Matt Damon's daughter] Isabella."

Pamela, who also runs a website called Nameberry, elaborated further, "Seraphim is one of the highest orders of angels. It kind of follows from Angelina, which has gotten super popular because of Angelina Jolie, as a spiritual, heavenly name." She continued adding, "The 'ph' spelling of Seraphina is more Hebrew in origin. It means 'ardent,' which is passionate."

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have been married since June 2005. They are parents to daughters Violet Anne Affleck, who was born in December 2005, and Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck.
