'TMNT' Most Likely Going Hybrid
Movie

Co-creator Peter Laird takes his turn in addressing the possible new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie.

AceShowbiz - The next movie project about the four pizza-loving ninja turtles, "Untitled New TMNT Project", is going to be different than its previous installments. While confirming that there will be another "TMNT" movie, the co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" revealed that the new film will be made into neither a live-action nor a CGI, instead it will be designed as a "hybrid".

To MTV's Splash Page, the owner of "TMNT" stated, "As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin. We have pretty much decided that the next 'TMNT' movie should be what we've been calling a 'hybrid' - that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters)."

Noting that the plot of the new movie has yet to be determined, Laird revealed what he has in mind of the human characters as he mentioned Chris Evans and Sarah Michelle Gellar as potential actors for the Casey and April characters. Furthermore, he confessed that he would love to have director Steve Barron returning to helm the project though admitting that no offer has been made or accepted.

On the occasion, Laird also backed up writer Stephen Murphy's comment on the false statement outed by Kevin Eastman. Giving out verification on the matter, he said, "I have to say that I don't know why Kevin was talking about something with which he has no involvement. The blurb he put on his website was very inaccurate. He has not been involved with any meetings in Northampton, nor any others related to a new 'TMNT' movie, as far as I know."

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" is originated from Mirage Studios' well-known comic book about a group of anthropomorphic turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello, trained to be skilled Ninja warriors by their sensei, Master Splinter. It has spawned into several television series and four feature films. The latest movie released was Kevin Munroe's CGI "TMNT" which hit the theaters on March 23, 2007 and has since collected $95 million worldwide.
