His wife of nearly 11 years, Jennifer Butler has filed for divorce from him, alleging he abused her and is addicted to marijuana and alcohol.

AceShowbiz - Having been married to Bill Murray for nearly 11 years, Jennifer Butler has on May 12 filed for divorce from him in a Charleston, S.C. family court. She alleged in the court documents, he physically abused her and is addicted to marijuana and alcohol. She, additionally, also accused him of abandoning and cheating on her.
Per the court documents, first obtained by the Charleston Post & Courier, Jennifer is asking a judge to issue a restraining order that will keep Bill away from her Sullivan's Island. It, moreover, was also stated in the documents that Jennifer and the couple's four children moved out of the family home in 2006.
Jennifer, who's a costume designer, put the blame on Bill's "adultery, addiction to marijuana and alcohol, abusive behavior, physical abuse, sexual addictions and frequent abandonment" for their move. The legal docs also stated Bill "hit his wife in the face and then told her she was 'lucky he didn't kill her'". To make matter worse, that happened more than once during their marriage.
Bill's attorney, John McDougall, declined comment on the allegations. Bill himself already issued a statement through John, saying "Bill Murray is deeply saddened by the dissolution of his marriage to Jennifer. Mr. and Mrs. Murray remain loving parents, committed to the best interests of their children. Mr. Murray asks that the public respect his family's privacy at this difficult time."
Bill's marriage to Jennifer, occurred in July 1997, is his second. They are parents to four sons Caleb (1993), Jackson (1995), Cooper (1996), and Lincoln (2001). Bill also has two other sons from his first marriage; Homer (1982) and Luke (1985).
