Pete Doherty has confirmed that he will release a solo album later this year and that Babyshambles are not splitting up due to his project.

Pete Doherty has taken sometime off from his band, Babyshambles, to work on his solo album, NME reported. The album which will be his debut as a solo act, received the production of Jake Fior and will be released later this year.
"It's going really, really well," Doherty told Nme.com. "I like working with Jake a lot, we gel well. All the groundwork for the album is done and I've given Jake all my new songs - I'd say it was just over half recorded so far."
With the news comes denial that Babyshambles have split. The rocker who was previously also in The Libertines, said, "It doesn't conflict with Babyshambles at all. It's just a continuation of what I do. I've always done solo recording but instead of just knocking it out on the Internet like I used to, I'm getting a little album together."
Doherty and Fior have been in a London studio and plan to finish the album in time for a summer release. Doherty predicted that 12 tracks like 'Cuckoo', Siberian Fur', 'Darksome Sea' and 'Ends' will make the cut.
