Jay-Z Can't See Where Hip-Hop and Imus Collide
Music

Being a Hip-Hop icon himself, Jay-Z can't help to speak up the irrelevance of Imus racist remark and rappers' lyrics.

AceShowbiz -

Don Imus' racist remark is still not understood by some musicians on its relevance to Hip-Hop music lyrics. Jay-Z is the latest rapper to make a comment regarding the controversial issue which was triggered by Imus calling mostly-black Rutgers University Women's Basketball Team "nappy-headed hos" during his radio show.

"I don't have a problem talking about censorship," Jay-Z told Blender. "If we're gonna talk about it with movies, if we're gonna talk about it with video games, if we're gonna talk about it with all the pornography sites that are bigger than hip-hop, then I'm cool with people talking about it with hip-hop."

"But to single out hip-hop and pull us into the ring with Don Imus, that's wrong," he added. "It wasn't dealing with the real issue. What Don Imus said was racist. It wasn't about censorship, and it wasn't about free speech. And it wasn't about rap's influence, because Don Imus is not influenced by rappers. He's not a fan of rap."

In May this year, fellow rapper Snoop Dogg pointed out that he would work just with anybody despite race. In his statement, Snoop also thought how rap become a "scape goat" to the whole Imus situation.
