Morgan Freeman, Frances McDormand and Peter Gallagher are set to star in Mike Nichols' Broadway revival of Clifford Odets' "The Country Girl."

Academy Award winners Morgan Freeman and Frances McDormand, as well as Golden Globe actor Peter Gallagher are heading for Broadway. The threesome are set to star in Mike Nichols' Broadway revival of Clifford Odets' "The Country Girl."
Odet's "The Country Girl" tells the story of Georgie, played by McDormand, who is married to a has-been alcoholic actor Frank Elgin, Freeman's character, who is now down on his luck. It was not until Frank is offered a major role by hotshot director Bernie Dodd, played by Gallagher, that he has the chance to make a major comeback.
"The Country Girl" is scheduled to open at a Shubert-owned theater in April 2008.
On reviving the play, the production explained, "One of Clifford Odets's last plays, 'The Country Girl' premiered to great acclaim and box office success on Broadway in 1950. A movie version of The Country Girl was released in 1954 and received two Academy Awards."
