CHUD has come up with shocking report claiming "Almost Famous" star Billy Crudup has been cast as Dr. Manhattan in "Watchmen."

In the middle of heavy speculations on Jason Patric being up for the role of Dr. Manhattan in Zack Snyder's "Watchmen", CHUD has surprisingly obtained scoop from a very reliable source stating a different actor has been signed to play the character instead.
The site claims that the one landing the coveted part is New York-born thesp Billy Crudup, widely known for his performance in Cameron Crowe's 2000 effort "Almost Famous" which won the filmmaker an Oscar for best original screenplay in 2001.
"Snyder has settled on Crudup for the role of Watchmen’s only super-powered character, a scientist who accidentally gets annihilated on an atomic level and reconstructs himself into a big, naked, blue, floating demigod," so it said.
Crudup, a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, is also widely recognized to be a lauded stage actor, having brought home a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play through "The Coast of Utopia" this year. Last seen on the big screen in "The Good Shepherd", he next is slated to appear in Justin Theroux's feature directorial debut "Dedication" which will have its limited release next month on date 24.
