Shrek Featured on McDonald's Healthy Happy Meal
Movie

Peace-loving ogre Shrek will be featured in McDonald's new campaign promoting the restaurant chain's apple slices, milk, and salads rather than burger and fries.

AceShowbiz -

By this weekend, the face of our beloved Ogre can be found in every McDonald's outlet all around the country for sure.

That's true, McDonald's. Corp and DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc., the studio behind the upcoming "Shrek the Third" movie, have struck a deal allowing the former to feature Shrek, Donkey, and other characters from the animated film in selling its Happy Meals and other food.

Unlike previous promotions, however, McDonald's will only use the peace-loving character to endorse for its Happy Meal package consisting of Apple Dippers, all-white-meat chicken McNuggets, and low-fat milk as well as other products introduced in the last three years. The menu will be advertised in TV and posters at McDonald's stores with Shrek also appearing on packaging for the milk and apples.

The Shrek promotion starts May 11 in the U.S. and will run about four weeks while the character will also be used to promote physical activity through games on McDonald's Web sites that require both online and offline play. In addition, the pot-bellied green star is also featured in a series of public service announcements by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services in its attempt to encourage kids to be physically active.
