Ice Cube is developing a new non-fiction pilot for US TV network A&E, titled "Good in the Hood."

Described as being "in the vein of the fictional film 'American History X,'" the reality series is aimed at inspiring criminals to turn their lives around.

"This show is a way to demonstrate what is going on in a positive way in the urban community," the outspoken rapper explained. "It is very important for me as an artist and individual to make sure these stories are told and I am grateful to A&E to allow us to do this."

In hand producing alongside Dave Broome and Matt Alvarez, Ice Cube will, in addition, begin every episode with an introduction to the week's redeemed individual. Those individuals, according to the network, include former gang members, drug dealers, etc.

Casting on the "Good in the Hood" pilot has just begun.
