Agreed to join forces together, Miramax Films and producer Scott Rudin are set to work on to develop Catholic-school drama "Doubt" as their next collaborative big screen project.

Based on John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same title, the picture concerns a nun who confronts a priest upon suspecting him abusing a black student. Shanley himself will both write and direct the flick with an eye to begin production in fall 2007.

Written in 2004, the original version first opened off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club on November 23, 2004, running 525 performances and 25 previews as it closed on July 2, 2006. It won four out of eight nominations it had received at the 2005 Tony Awards, notably that in Best Play category.
