New Line Cinema's crime drama "A History of Violence" became the big winner at the 2006 DGCA Awards, taking home four out of five nominations.

Already garnered numerous accolades as well as award nominations, "A History of Violence" once again encounters its glory at this year's Director's Guild of Canada Awards held on Sunday, October 14 in Toronto.
The crime drama satisfyingly has swept four of the five nods it received, winning the categories of Best Film, Best Sound Editing, Best Picture Editing, and Best Director for helmer David Cronenberg. The only one it missed out was for that of Best Production Design which was given to THINKFilm's showbiz thriller "Where the Truth Lies."
In the meantime, TV-movie feature "Human Trafficking" also proves to be the big winner at the event in the television movie/mini-series slot as it snatched up three awards for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Production Design.
Other winners include "Hitler's Children" which was named Best Documentary, "Spirit Bear" which won Best Family Television Movie/Mini-Series category, and "Northern Town" which got labeled Best Comedy Television Series.
