Singer Alicia Keys, actor Richard Gere, and Barenaked Ladies are among the celebrities who will kick off the International AIDS Conference, held next month in Toronto.

Other acts at the opening ceremony, scheduled for Aug. 13 at the Rogers Centre, include Our Lady Peace, Chantal Kreviazuk, Amanda Marshall, Massari and Blue Man Group.

In addition to those mentioned, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates and wife Melinda Gates, Sandra Oh and Olympia Dukakis also will attend the ceremony as well.

As of the program, it will begin at 7 p.m. while the concert opening the six-day conference is to begin at 9 p.m. with as many as 25,000 conference delegates set to attend. In the meantime, organizers hope to sell another 20,000 tickets to general public with proceeds from ticket sales going toward several AIDS-related groups.
