the young actors are very appealing, and there are amusing supporting performances from Christian Slater and Sung Kang as two of the adult superheroes. "We Can Be Heroes" also boasts cool visual effects that accentuate the fantasy
the plotting, even by kids' film standards, is predictable and rudimentary, the action scenes are lacklustre and the messaging heavy-handed (there's so much over-delivered guff about the need to work together and believe in yourself)
Robert Rodriguez's latest is made squarely for kids, with sincerity and heart; At times, its scrappy enthusiasm feels reminiscent of the live-action kids TV shows of yore
much like Robert Rodriguez's "Spy Kids" films, "We Can Be Heroes" proves silly, light-hearted fun for its target audience, blissfully free of ponderousness and enlivened by antic humor
"We Can Be Heroes" can he hokey at times, but it's a fun superhero move for both kids and their parents, with good action scenes and decent special effects
