this may be the most well-suited role yet for the Johnny Depp of today: Perma-sloshed, on a tear to insult everyone around him and particularly enraged by anything he suspects of having a whiff of emasculation
this is a 2018 film that feels like it was made in the early '90s and then forgotten about for two and a half decades before having a polite, desultory and very brief fuss made of it prior to disappearing for good
the movie frequently makes no sense from a purely human perspective, and it becomes increasingly annoying as the story rolls on; The Professor rarely feels real
more an intriguing literary conceit than a credible drama; though the screenplay draws attention to its structure.. it plays like a work that has been victimized by too many editors, each trying to achieve something different
"The Professor" straddles the line between weepy melodrama and snappy comedy, leaving an underwhelming footprint on each genre; No doubt this movie will disappear quickly before our very eyes
