War for the Planet of the Apes is an upcoming American science fiction film directed by Matt Reeves and written by Mark Bomback and Reeves. The third installment in the reboot of the Planet of the Apes franchise, it is a sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014). Starring Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, and Karin Konoval, the film follows Caesar (Serkis), the leader of an ape colony, as he leads his people against an army of humans led by the ruthless Colonel (Harrelson). A teaser trailer for the film was released in June 2016, followed by a full trailer in July 2016. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 14, 2017.
