The Witness is a 1985 American mystery thriller film directed by Peter Weir and starring Harrison Ford, Kelly McGillis, Lukas Haas, and Danny Glover. The screenplay by Earl W. Wallace and William Kelley is based on the 1981 novel of the same name by Evan Hunter. The film tells the story of a Philadelphia police detective who becomes obsessed with a brutal murder he witnesses and the subsequent trial.
